The short answer
Journey Psychiatric Care is psychiatric care that takes insurance in Massachusetts. It is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna and Evernorth, Oscar Health, Oxford, Point32Health and UnitedHealthcare (UHC/UBH), and provides invoices for out-of-network plans.
How coverage works here
If your plan is on the in-network list, your visits are billed to your insurer. What you pay depends on your plan’s copay, coinsurance and deductible, so check your mental health benefits before the first visit.
If your plan isn’t listed, you can still be seen. You pay for the visit and receive an invoice you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. The out-of-network page explains the steps.
Before you book, have your insurance card handy with the member ID, plan name and member services phone number. If you are on a parent’s or spouse’s plan, you will also need the policyholder’s name and date of birth.

Frequently asked questions
Which insurance do you accept?
Journey Psychiatric Care is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Aetna, Cigna and Evernorth, Oscar Health, Oxford, Point32Health and UnitedHealthcare (UHC/UBH). Each plan has its own page with details on checking your benefits.
Do you accept MassHealth or Medicare?
No. Journey Psychiatric Care does not accept MassHealth or Medicare, including Medicare Advantage plans. If you have one of those, call the number on your card for in-network options, or ask us about self-pay.
What if my plan isn’t on the list?
You can still book. The practice provides invoices you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement, and many commercial plans pay back part of the cost. Call your insurer to ask about out-of-network mental health benefits.
How do out-of-network invoices work?
You pay for the visit, then receive an invoice with the details your insurer needs. You submit it to your plan, and they reimburse you according to your out-of-network benefits.
How much will a visit cost?
It depends on your plan, so the practice can’t quote a copay here. Your insurer can tell you what you owe for outpatient mental health visits. Contact us for current self-pay rates.
How do I check my mental health benefits?
Call the member services number on your card or log in to your plan’s member site. Ask about outpatient mental health coverage, telehealth visits, your deductible, and whether a referral is needed.
Does insurance cover telehealth psychiatry?
Most commercial plans in Massachusetts cover telehealth mental health visits. Details vary by plan type, so confirm with your insurer before your first visit.
